Since its beginnings 30 years ago, South Run Baptist Church has embraced, encouraged, and equipped ministry students as they explore their calling through its summer internship program.  Through a 10-week summer program, one male and one female intern will get to experience an overview of ministry as they serve the vibrant youth and children’s programs at a dynamic church committed to reaching its community.  Students applying for the program should be a rising senior in college or enrolled in seminary.  Located just outside of Washington, D.C., Springfield, Virginia, offers a diverse environment for skills to be cultivated and challenged under the supervision of a loving and caring community of committed followers of Jesus Christ. Interns will be mentored directly by the head pastor and will be a critical part of the church’s mission for the summer months.
·  The interns will serve in a full-time, temporary capacity for ten weeks.
·  The interns will plan events and programming with the pastor and appropriate ministry teams, all of whom will serve to supervise the internship. Ability to collaborate and communicate is a must.
·  The church will provide a weekly $400 salary, housing (in the home of a church family), mileage (when applicable), and some meals.  Travel to Springfield, VA is  reimbursed.
·  The interns will have a vibrant, personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
·  The interns will have the ability to work cooperatively with a partner intern and other church staff and leaders.
·  The interns’ doctrinal understandings will be consistent with those of South Run and support the church’s vision, mission, and purpose.
·  Equip youth and children to serve and minister to others.
·  Alert youth and children to God’s call in their lives.
·  Support parents and current ministry teams.
·  Lead youth and children to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
·  Assist with and lead short-term mission trips.
·  Plan and lead local mission projects.
·  Lead discipleship groups through weekly Bible studies.
·  Disciple youth and children by building relationships.
·  Serve as counselor at summer camps for youth and for children.
·  Plan and lead fellowship-building and recreational activities.
·  Manage summer youth budget, track expenses using good stewardship and allotted funds.
·  Perform administrative duties in support of both children and youth summer ministries.
