Louisville First Methodist Church, located in Louisville, Mississippi, is currently seeking a Senior Pastor to join our congregation and lead us in our spiritual journey. As a vibrant and

We believe that the role of Senior Pastor is pivotal in shaping the direction and vision of our church, and we are seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual who is called to minister to
our congregation and community. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, excellent communication skills, and a deep commitment to the Methodist tradition.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Pastor include:

  • Providing spiritual leadership and guidance to the congregation.
  • Preaching and teaching the Word of God in a relevant and engaging manner.
  • Administering the sacraments and providing pastoral care to church members.
  • Collaborating with church leadership to develop and implement ministry programs.
  • Engaging with the local community and participating in outreach initiatives.

The Senior Pastor’s Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Establish, protect, and guide the vision and mission of FMC in consultation with Church leadership and Staff.
  • Supervise, evaluate and advise the church ministry staff and ministry volunteers in their work in and through the church.
  • Serve as the primary preacher of the Gospel and Worship leader with a consistent pulpit presence in Sunday services (morning and evening).
  • Visit members of the church family to minister to their needs, with special focus on those who need spiritual counsel or guidance, ill, homebound, in nursing homes or in hospitals.
  • Conduct premarital, vocational, family death/grief and relational counseling sessions as needed, advising other professional help for people when needed.
  • Oversee the administration of the ordinances of baptism, communion, and church membership.
  • Oversee administration, ministry, and mission functions of this church.
  • Lead a Wednesday night Bible Study to connect on a more personal level.
  • Perform weddings and funerals under the guidelines of the FMC policies.
  • Approve all speakers and participants in the public worship services as well as any outreach ministries and/or outside ministries.
  • Maintain weekly office hours, supervising all paid church staff.
  • Preserve a regular schedule of personal Devotions, Bible study and sermon preparation.
  • Adhere to the policies and procedures manual, as adopted by the church.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Board of Stewards

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Character: A person who exemplifies a Godly character and demonstrates a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Calling: One who is called by God to minister to His church. Exhibits compassionate with fellow believers and assists them to become fully mature disciples. Has a calling to reach un-churched, non-believers with the good news of Jesus Christ.
  • Commitment: A servant / leader who will both serve and lead in accordance with the expectations set forth in Ephesians 4:11-13; 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 2 Timothy
    4:1-5; Titus 1:6-9; Hebrews 13:17; and 1 Peter 5:1-3.
  • Capabilities: Proven leadership and strategic thinking incorporating a collaborative team leadership style. Ability to develop and communicate a vision for the ministries of FMC, to inspire others, and to manage and develop staff, ministry leaders, church members to their fullest potential.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree is required, but a seminary degree preferred.
  • Experience: Prefer 5 years or more experience as an associate and/or senior pastor.
