ParticipantFriendship International is a Lexington-based organization of Christian women who offer friendship to international women living in Lexington because their husbands work, go to school, or teach there. Many have young children, are isolated without transportation, and struggle with English. Friendship International is a once a week opportunity for them to socialize and learn about American culture. The American community provides them transportation and childcare so that they can attend the fellowship and classes that Friendship offers.
We are a success! Last Friday, we had 40 youngsters! BUT, we only had a dozen nursery workers. Would you consider sharing a few hours on Friday mornings meeting new friends yourself and helping us with these children? Although this ministry is for the moms, the nursery is the one place where we love to have men helping, too. The international children absolutely love the “papas” and “grandpas” who volunteer, so we encourage couples to come together.
Basic Info:
We meet on Fridays at Ashland Avenue Baptist Church on West Reynolds Rd, Lexington southside from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
We could create carpools from your location if you need transportation.
The only time that many of our international women are away from their children is on Friday mornings. It really is a gift to them. This playtime gives the toddlers an opportunity to learn some English, colors, and shapes; music; and a Bible character of the month.
